The 12th Annual Midwest “Chinese Bridge”High School Student Speech Contest Held at CIVU, the U.S.A

On May 4, local time, the 12th Annual US Midwest "“Chinese Bridge”"High School Student Speech Contest was held at the Confucius Institute at Valparaiso University, jointly run (CIVU), (which was jointly establishedwithby Zhejiang University of Technology) (ZJUT).Forty high school students selected from eight Midwestern states participated in the contest.


The competition was divided into four levels of experiencewith five components: prepared speech, written test, Chinese culturaltalent show, impromptu speech, and quiz.


Olivia Blackmon, nominated byrepresenting the Confucius Institute atMiddle Tennessee State University, won the first place, and would travel to China for the grand finals.


The Midwest “Chinese Bridge”"Chinese Bridge"High School Students Speech Contest has been held for 12 years.The number of contestants, their Chineseproficiency, and the excellencewatchability of thecontest are all levelling up year by year.
