President of Federation University Australia Visits ZJUT

On September 5th, Helen Bartlett, the President of Federation University Australia (FedUni), as well as three other members of FedUni visited Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT).

Li Xiaonian, President of ZJUT, introduced the latestachievements, the advantageous disciplines of ZJUT and its concept of running the university. He suggested and hoped that in the next phase of cooperation and exchange, the two universities would expand areas of cooperation and deepen the partnership with civil engineering as the starting point.

Helen Bartlett introduced the overall situation of the Federation University, and agreed with Li Xiaonian on his new plan for cooperation. She also hoped that, on the basis of current joint education programs, research cooperation and teacher exchange between departments of the two sides would bepromoted to more comprehensive dimensions.

During the visit, a project seminar was held between the FedUni andZJUT’s College of Civil Engineering and Architecture and its International College. Delegates reviewed the history of cooperation and discussed the details for future collaborations.

On the afternoon of Sept. 5, the matriculation ceremony for the undergraduate freshmen majoring in Civil Engineering was held on Zhaohui Campus,attended by the FedUni delegation and Hu Wei, Deputy Secretary of the ZJUT Party Committee.Both Hu Wei and Helen Bartlett addressed the ceremony.

The Federation University Australia is a public university funded by the government. Its teaching quality enjoys the five-star prestige by Australia's “Good University Guide” for seven consecutive years. The employment rate of graduates ranks first among universities in Victoria.
